The name originates from Dr Alek’s vision for sk.in.
“My vision is to make prescription-grade active ingredients more accessible and to combine these ingredients in formulations that most effectively target specific concerns and correct the health and hydration of the skin barrier.”
For many years, renowned South African aesthetic medical practitioner Dr Alek Nikolic wanted to make cosmeceuticals more available. The stumbling block was that active ingredients could cause unwanted skin reactions, limiting availability to prescription-only through aesthetic practices and dermatologists. However, Dr Alek knew of high-quality active ingredients that reduced the possibility of skin reactions. He went to work to bring them to a wider market.
Formal research and development for sk.in began in 2015 when Dr Alek started working with compounding pharmacists, international ingredient suppliers and packaging experts to ensure that the quality of the ingredients matched sk.in’s mission and Dr Alek's exacting standards. This 3 year journey culminated in sk.in, an innovative skincare brand that uses premium ingredients to maximise results while simultaneously limiting skin reactions.
