There are quite a few reasons that you really don’t want to live without it, including these.
Anyone with acne or clogged pores can benefit from the konjac sponge, because its fibers help to unclog pores that are plugged up in a way that a washcloth or your hands simply cannot. As it’s an antibacterial, it helps to kill acne-causing bacteria as well as deep clean the skin’s pores to eliminate dirt, blackheads , and oil. When the pores become clogged with dead skin cells and other impurities, oils from the skin tend to get trapped beneath the surface, causing pimples and blackheads.
As a konjac sponge works as an exfoliator, as mentioned, using it will make your skin more radiant. Using anything on the skin that exfoliates is known to give the complexion a more “glowing” look, and the more often you use it, the more pronounced those effects will be. Regular use will likely result in skin that’s as smooth and silky as a baby’s bottom!
The konjac sponge can help your makeup stay on longer and look better too. That’s because it helps to remove flaky skin that can interfere with application and as it also helps to moisturize the skin, the face is more responsive to other skincare products that are used as well, creating the ideal canvas for your cosmetic art.
When you’re ready to remove your makeup, the konjac sponge is great for that too, as it’s able to remove even the most stubborn traces of makeup. Used with soap (or a homemade cleanser) and water, it will remove more makeup than washing with your hands alone. You can even run one around your eyes so that your mascara comes off easier and faster.
Drying out your skin can actually worsen problems like oily skin and breakouts, because the skin responds by producing more oil. One of the most significant benefits of a konjac sponge is to deep clean the skin without drying it out, which tends to result in dull-looking skin that’s more prone to pimples. You can make your skin even softer by adding a drop of Argan Oil to the water, and rinsing your face with it after using the sponge.
The konjac sponge is great for those with sun-damaged skin as it helps to gently slough off the dull, dry flakes that typically come along with it. If you frequently wear an SPF sunscreen, daily or almost every day, using the sponge can help to remove stubborn, water-resistant sunscreen that usually won’t come off with soap or other traditional cleansers.
The konjac sponge is not only ideal for adults with sensitive skin because it won’t damage skin cells, but it’s perfect for baby’s sensitive skin too. The sponges are soft, palm-sized and are the ultimate product for baby’s bath time. Use it to massage the skin gently, working in circular motions.
Rinse and soak the dry Konjac Sponge with warm water until fully softened and expanded. A wet sponge expands approximately one and half size compared to the dry one. For first time use, the sponge might take up to 15 minutes of soaking until it becomes soft.
Soaking it with hot or warm water rather than cold water will help making the texture of the sponge softer. Cleanse your face with water-soaked sponge daily or every other day. Alternatively, combine it with your favorite cleanser to make the sponge even softer and to create a rich lather for an incredibly therapeutic experience.
Gently massage your face with the sponge starting from center of face and extend outwards in an upward direction. This produces a lifting effect to shape face for a slimmer silhouette and avoid sagging skin. Alternatively, gently massage the face with the sponge in circular motion. Please avoid harsh rubbing on acne area and around eye area.
Rinse the sponge with clean water. Using clean hands, press the sponge gently in between palms to drain water out. DO NOT twist, stretch or press the sponge too hard as it may damage the sponge. If you have long nails, please do not squeeze/poke the sponge too hard as it may tear the sponge and cause it to fall apart.
Hang the sponge in a well-ventilated area to dry it. Do not expose the sponge to direct sunlight and do not leave the sponge in humid place i.e. poorly ventilated bathroom or faucet area. Alternatively, keep the sponge in a container and store it in a refrigerator.
Replace sponge every 4-6 weeks for the best cleansing experience.
Just like any bath products or other sponges, a personal care is needed to avoid bacteria buildup and prevent molds formation. The Japanese Konjac Sponge does not contain any bactericide and fungicide; however, molds can be prevented by keeping the sponge dry after each use or store it inside a sealed container in a refrigerator (this also works for many bath products). If you don’t want to replace your sponge as frequently, try one of these ideas to care the sponge:
**Tips to Lengthen Your Konjac Puffs/Sponges Life: For daily use, soak the sponge with WARM water first. For best result, mix 50% of room temperature water with 50% of hot water inside a small container before use. After use, always rinse and drain the water from the sponge, then hang it to dry in non-humid area.
With proper care, normally the Japanese Konjac Sponge can last approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Please use extra care when handling hot water or sponge when sanitizing it. Once your sponge starts to disintegrate, change it with a new fresh one to obtain its maximum benefits!
